Amy Quinn was sworn in as Deputy Mayor by City Clerk Lisa Esposito on Monday, January 22 during the rescheduled reorganization meeting. She was joined by her wife, Heather, and their son, Jensen. The nomination was unanimously supported by council members Ahbez-Anderson, Chapman and Clayton. Noticeably absent was Mayor John Moor who is recovering from surgery. Quinn has the authority to act as Mayor while Moor is on the mend.
The bulk of the reorganization meeting was spent reinstating members of Boards and Commissions, as well as appointing consultants and attorneys. Quinn announced several vacancies on Boards and Commissions and encouraged people to apply.
Reverend David J. Parreot, Jr., an open supporter of Asbury Together, opened the meeting with a prayer, “Grant them wisdom to govern amid the conflicting interests and issues of our time……Grant them confidence in what is good…… Grant them personal peace in their lives…… We pray for the agenda set before them.”
The January 3 meeting was rescheduled as a result of Quinn contracting Covid. An emergency meeting was held on January 9, 2024, in order to provide for 2024 temporary budget appropriations as well as necessary snowplow repairs.
