Asbury Park Museum Vice President, Charles Horner, and his wife Pamela, also a board member, were honored with an award for their work in researching, writing and chronicling African American music. They received the award at the annual Celebration of Black History: Gospel Praise Festival 2024 in Chesapeake, Virginia.

The festival is presented annually by Rev. Dr. Brenda Boone-Smith and The Higher Praise Community Choir of Hampton Roads, Virginia. Guests at this year’s event included The Brooklyn All Stars, The Soul Stirrers, The Pilgrim Jubilees, The Keynotes, and Rev. Luther Barnes & Sunset Jubilaires.
